EU Regulation on Plastic Pellet Loss – second reading in Parliament
2025.10.27 - 16:50
The European Parliament is approaching the second reading of the upcoming EU Regulation on plastic pellet losses, targeting a 74% reduction of microplastic emissions by improving handling, storage, and transport procedures. SMEs will have simplified compliance schemes.
The regulation establishes clear standards for zero pellet loss across the plastics value chain. Operators will need to conduct audits, implement traceability protocols, and adopt certified containment measures for pellets and powders. For producers and compounders, compliance will become a key criterion in supplier qualification from 2026 onward.
