According to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), exports of polyethylene from the United States to Europe have increased by more than 20% in 2025. This trend is driven by the high energy costs across the European market, which make U.S. polyethylene more competitive compared to local production. The shift highlights Europe’s growing dependency on imports for essential raw materials in the plastics sector.
