Authorities in Malaysia and India have announced new restrictions on plastic waste imports. Only licensed companies with proven recycling capacity will be allowed to import, while some categories – such as contaminated PVC and expanded polystyrene – are banned altogether. These measures are in line with OECD and EU strategies to curb waste trafficking and promote local recycling.
